Dr. Stephanie Boden recently participated in ‘Walk With a Doc’ community health event hosted by the University of Louisville.
At Boden Orthopedics, our commitment to your health doesn’t end when you leave the office. We believe that staying active and staying connected are two of the most important things you can do for your long-term wellness.
Recently, Dr. Stephanie Boden had the wonderful opportunity to participate in the “Walk With a Doc” event at Waterfront Park. This community-focused initiative, hosted by the University of Louisville, invites local residents to spend a morning walking alongside healthcare providers to discuss health, movement, and better living.
Bridging the Gap Between Surgeon and Community
As a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and shoulder surgery, Dr. Stephanie Boden spends much of her time helping athletes and active individuals return to peak performance. However, she knows that “performance” isn’t just about the playing field—it’s about the ability to move through life without pain.
“Events like ‘Walk With a Doc’ are so important because they take the conversation out of the clinical setting,” says Dr. Stephanie Boden. “It’s a chance to meet our neighbors, answer questions in a relaxed environment, and remind everyone that movement is a form of medicine that is available to all of us.”
A Sports Medicine Perspective on Walking
While Dr. Stephanie Boden often treats complex injuries of the shoulder, knee, and elbow, she is a firm advocate for the power of a simple walk. During the event, she shared insights on how low-impact exercise can protect your joints:
- Joint Longevity: Regular walking helps maintain cartilage health and keeps joints lubricated.
- Injury Prevention: Strengthening the muscles around your hips and knees through walking can prevent common overuse injuries.
- Recovery & Rehab: For many patients recovering from sports injuries or surgery, walking is the foundational first step back to full activity.
Our Family, Caring for Yours
Dr. Stephanie Boden is proud to practice alongside her sisters, Drs. Allison and Lauren Boden. Together, they bring a unique, family-centered approach to orthopedic care in Louisville. Whether she is serving as a team physician for the University of Louisville or walking with community members at the park, her goal remains the same: to treat every patient like family.
We are incredibly proud of Dr. Stephanie’s involvement in this initiative and her dedication to making Louisville a healthier, more active city.
